Bread

Faubourg breads are baked using traditional French recipes born from culinary wisdom passed down through generations.  Ingredients and timing have been perfected over the ages and today Faubourg continues the tradition through our process, which focuses on three pillars of quality:

Authenticity: Faubourg’s baguettes are baked according to tradition and following the official standard of a baguette as originally established by Parisian bakers.  All of our products are additive-free and preservative-free and baked using the freshest ingredients of the finest quality.

Freshness: Our bread is baked throughout the day, ensuring the freshest bread for all our customers.  Rather than a single daily baking, our bread is baked five times daily, at 8:00,10:00,11:00, 14:00 and 17:00. For added authenticity, our bread is baked in a five-deck oven specially imported from France – the only one of its kind in Canada.

Unique flavor: In keeping with tradition, Faubourg uses the autolyse process, a process in dough-making which allows the flour to soften, creating improved texture in the baked bread. Meanwhile, our levain, specially created for our use, produces the rich aroma associated with the finest breads.

All bread is available in rye, wheat or multi-grain.

Bread Selection

Traditional baguette:

The most famous of the French breads Faubourg has to offer.  We prepare in accordance to strict French culinary traditions employing the classic Parisian recipe: flour, water, levin, salt and time-honored know-how.

Campagne:

A rustic recipe from the French countryside – a classic staple of the French table in villages and families all over France.  The Campagne is a blend of white and rye flour, which is a heartier beard offering than its traditional counterpart.  

Fig and walnut :

Tasty walnuts and healthy dried figs are combined in this all natural bread. The figs may be dried, but are not dried out. They are marinated for a few hours with spices to bring this exclusive flavor.

Multi seeds:

A Rich texture and slightly sweet, the multi seeds loaf contains poppy, sesame, sunflower, pumpkin and flax seeds.  Oat bran, plus all the grains, are mixed with the dough and slowly kneaded to release their genuine taste. 

Garlic and Cheese:

Our Classic French Bread enriched with Garlic And Thyme. Swiss & Cheddar cheese cubes are spaced throughout to create this savoury loaf.

Whole Wheat:

Faubourg’s Whole Wheat loaf a rich loaf made with 50% whole wheat flour & 50% white flour.

Fougasse:

A Tradition French bread, sculpted to resemble an ear of wheat.  We offer two different Fougasse: Black Olive or Bacon and Onion.

Braided Brioche Loaf:

            Created from our Brioche recipe, this loaf is a ‘sweet’ hit- not just for its’ appearance but its flavor too.

Almond Twist:

            Our Brioche combined with Almond frangipan and then glazed.  Need we say more?

Brioche Nanterre:

            In a convenient ‘pull-a-part’ shape, this Brioche loaf is perfect for sharing at the dinner table, or slicing it up in the morning for a delectable indulgence.

Sourdough:

You asked... we listened... starting today, Faubourg is proud to announce our newest loaf of bread : Sourdough.
